the malay-looking chinese kid

Tonight, after few weeks of not seeing him around, the malay-looking
chinese kid is back on the court, playing and fooling around.

" hei melayu jum ah takat " said the indian kid, macha. I don't really know
what takat means but I believe that's an invitation to ball together.

"Hei, dia panggil kamu melayu tu dia ejek awak ke ?" the malay-looking chinese kid asked upon hearing what macha said, unaware that they used to call me by that 'melayu' name there instead of my real one. He looks concerned too, and that's where the funny part is.
" haha takda lah, manada " I grinned.
" oh ye eh, sebab saya selalu kalau ejek kawan melayu saya guna nama tu hehe " he replied . I grinned, again.

Then, out of curiosity, to make sure that he really is a chinese i asked him,
" you buddha ke "
" saya cina " he replied again. One of the chinese kid there who listened to our little conversation, who really did understand what my question was , stared at me and laugh.
" ini budak banyak sohai maa " the chinese kid said followed by our laughter. The malay-looking chinese kid's face shows that he's still in confusion.

Kids are purely funny even without trying.

I asked him again,
" Itu bangsa lah, you buddha ke?"
" you panggil saya budak ke? Saya bukan budak lagi ma" (this kid ah, i dont know what's wrong
with him but he really knows how to crack me up)
"bukannnn, maksud saya u agama buddha ke , kalau saya islam, u buddha ke? "
"Ohhh, haah buddhe " (he basically didn't understand what i mean coz the way I pronounced
the term as buddha instead of buddhe).

Finally. The malay looking chinese kid is really a chinese after all.
